Reading & Writing: A marriage

Reading and writing are interconnected skills that mutually reinforce and support each other. By keeping these together, students develop a comprehensive understanding of language, enhance critical thinking skills, and become more effective communicators.

  1. Comprehension & analysis: Reading and writing are reciprocal process. Reading exposes ideas and writing allows them to think critically and organize their own thoughts.

  2. Vocabulary Development: Reading and writing together enhance vocabulary acquisition. Reading exposes students to new words while writing enables students to actively use and apply the vocabulary they have encountered.

  3. Language Proficiency: Reading and writing integrate skills that allow students a better grasp of grammar, syntax and language conventions.

  4. Authentic Communication: Integrated reading and writing allows students to learn and actively engage with texts by evaluating the information, forming opinions, and expressing their ideas. Real -world experiences!

This is why it is best practice to keep reading and writing together to support meaningful learning. At Literacy Logic, you can expect these two skills to go hand in hand.
